1. Information We Collect

We collect information you provide directly to us when you:

• Create an account
• Use our timer and tracking features
• Subscribe to premium services
• Contact our support team

This information may include:

• Account Information: Name, email address (managed by Clerk)
• Usage Data: Study sessions, timer duration, labels, goals, streaks
• Payment Information: Processed by Stripe on the web, or by the app store you buy through in a mobile app. We do not receive or store full card details. We retain purchase product, status, dates, and transaction identifiers needed to grant and support access.
• Community Content: Study-group messages, shared-profile content, reports you submit, and account blocks needed to operate and moderate community features
• Device Information: Browser or app platform, IP address, device type, and an Expo push token if you enable notifications
• Optional Acquisition Data: Campaign tags, the landing-page path, referring hostname, and coarse country/market when you allow analytics

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide, maintain, and improve our services
• Track your study sessions and progress
• Process payments and manage subscriptions
• Send you service-related notifications
• Send one reminder email if you start a Premium checkout and don’t finish it, at most once a month. Every reminder has an unsubscribe link, and we don’t send them to people in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland
• Respond to your comments and questions
• Detect and prevent fraud or abuse
• Display relevant advertisements to non-premium users

3. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

• Clerk: Authentication and user management
• Stripe: Payment processing
• Apple: App Store purchases, subscription status, and Apple sign-in when you choose it
• Other app stores: Purchases and subscription status for anything bought through them in a StudiesTimer mobile app
• Expo: Delivery of mobile push notifications
• Railway: Database and backend hosting
• Vercel: Frontend hosting
• Google website services: AdSense advertising for non-Premium website users, plus site measurement and Google Ads conversion measurement. In the European Economic Area, the UK, and Switzerland, measurement and ad personalization happen only after you allow them; elsewhere they are on unless you turn them off. When ad personalization is off, StudiesTimer requests non-personalized ads.
• Microsoft Advertising: When enabled, Universal Event Tracking measures advertising visits, account sign-ups and confirmed Premium purchases. It follows your analytics and advertising choices and Global Privacy Control. In the European Economic Area, UK and Switzerland, it also requires consent for Microsoft Advertising and Xandr in the consent message. We do not send your email address, account identifier or study notes in conversion events.

4. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored securely on servers provided by Railway. We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction.

Data is encrypted in transit using HTTPS/TLS. Card details do not pass through or remain on StudiesTimer servers. Stripe and the app stores handle payment credentials; StudiesTimer receives only the purchase and subscription metadata needed to verify entitlements, prevent purchase replay, and provide support.

5. Your Rights (GDPR)

If you are in the European Economic Area, you have the following rights:

• Access: Request a copy of your personal data
• Correction: Request correction of inaccurate data
• Deletion: Delete your account in the app or on the website, or submit a request through our account deletion page
• Export: Request a portable copy of your data
• Objection: Object to processing of your data

6. Your Rights (CCPA — California Residents)

If you are a California resident, you have the following rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA):

• Right to Know: Request what personal information we collect, use, disclose, and sell
• Right to Delete: Request deletion of your personal information
• Right to Opt-Out: Opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information
• Right to Non-Discrimination: You will not be discriminated against for exercising your CCPA rights

We do not sell your personal information. However, our use of Google AdSense may constitute “sharing” of information under the CCPA. You can opt out of personalized ads through the Privacy choices link in the site footer. We also treat a Global Privacy Control signal from your browser as a request to opt out of personalized ads. 7. Data Retention

We retain account, study, community, and entitlement data while your account is active. A successful account deletion removes your account and associated study and community data from active systems. Residual copies may remain in protected backups for up to 30 days.

Payment processors and app stores may retain their own transaction records under their policies, and we may retain limited financial, fraud-prevention, or legal records where law requires it. Deleting a StudiesTimer account does not cancel a subscription bought through an app store; it must be cancelled with that store.

8. Cookies and Tracking

We use cookies and similar tracking technologies to:

• Keep you signed in
• Remember your preferences (theme, timer settings)
• Analyze usage and conversion patterns
• Personalize Google AdSense advertising

Essential storage keeps the timer and your settings working. Analytics and ad personalization are optional. Outside the European Economic Area, the UK, and Switzerland they are on by default, and you can turn them off at any time through the Privacy choices link in the site footer; we also treat a Global Privacy Control signal from your browser as a request to turn ad personalization off. Non-Premium visitors see AdSense ads either way: with ad personalization on, Google may use advertising cookies to personalize them, and with it off we send a denied advertising-consent signal so Google serves non-personalized ads, which do not use advertising cookies or identifiers to build a profile of you. Premium subscribers see no ads at all.

If you are in the European Economic Area, the UK, or Switzerland, analytics and ad personalization stay off until you allow them. Your choices there are collected by Google’s certified consent management platform, so you will see Google’s consent message rather than ours. Your selection governs both advertising and measurement on StudiesTimer, and you can reopen it at any time to change your mind.

You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. Alternatively, you can opt out of third-party vendor cookies for personalized advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info. You can also change or withdraw your choice at any time through the Privacy choices link in the site footer, or use your browser settings.

9. Children’s Privacy

Our service is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 13, please contact us immediately.

10. International Data Transfers

Your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your own. We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place to protect your information in accordance with this privacy policy.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new privacy policy on this page and updating the “Last updated” date.
